Ship To Tax Bypass

Not sure if this is a bug or just undesired result or a setting I'm missing, but I've noticed that if you fill in the billing details with a state that charges tax. Then check the box to fill in a shipping address and pick a different state in shipping that doesn't get charged tax without putting any other information in, then it allows the person to checkout without paying tax. Which I understand the shipping address would be what would make paying tax required and it was set out of state so that is why you wouldn't have to pay tax. Which brings up a main thing that would fix the issue, how the ship to fields aren't required which allows them to checkout without putting any other ship to information in. Is there a way to make the same bill to fields that are required also required in the shipping area when they check the ship to box?

hello, this is a default behavior in OPC since in most cases there are no states and in VM core it is not possible to mark one field required for BT while leaving it not required for ST, thus in OPC ST fields are not required by default.

to adjust per your case you can make required ST fields required at OPC Shopper fields section (left menu in opc backend on j3), activate checkboxes under column "Shipping field obligatory" (config is auto-saved upon clicking the checkbox), ideal fields for US are country+state+address_1+city+zip code.

if you are using Fedex, UPS, USPS or similar you may also mark all of the above fields as "ajax fields" which will then update the shipping list per updates in these fields, also updating the last field available to customer within BT or ST section as "ajax field" will make sure that all previous fields are properly remembered when refreshing the checkout page (with another navigation or with F5 key)

best regards, stan
