Shopper Field "Country" - Standard country?

Hello together,

in the virtuemart configuration i can set a country as "default" in the shopper field "country" with its ID, but in OPC this country is not shown as preselected in the cart/registration. Is there a way to set a country as "default"?

hello, please do not use VM's default value as they mostly don't do what you'd expect, especially you would get "missing value for address... " (and many more messages) if VM sets a default country and then finds out that ST or BT is not empty while required fields are empty.

to use default value for country i suggest to configure this in opc, where you can:
- configure it with our geolocator software (when used with EU VAT and MOSS plugin, it can set the default country to whole page and thus the product pages when not cached would show to the customer with his own tax set up per his country)
- or configure per joomla language DE->DE, ES->ES, EN->GB or similar
- or configure a default country in OPC which will make sure it doesn't cause any harm to the validation of the other fields and will not be loaded when it should not get loaded

if you really need default country in VM elsewhere then the checkout, please configure the same default country in OPC as well.

default country in VM will also cause shipping plugins to be triggered at other pages (that show minicart or else) and thus all your pages will load many times slower compared to not using this feature.
