Placeholders in IE10

Postby gebby3346 » Mon Jun 23, 2014 5:09 pm

When trying to check out all placeholders in IE10 appear blank. I just purchased this over the weekend so it should be the most recent version of OPC, the latest version of VM and the latest Joomla. The url is celestaire.com

hello, placeholders should be fully supported by IE10. please make sure that you don't have IE9 compatibility tag within your joomla theme - some are adding them to the html which causes this issue.

many themes render this within /templates/YOUR THEME/index.php

i can check the issue only once opc is enabled. i suggest you may want to try a non-placeholder theme as per the display tab in opc backend.

best regards, stan

I am using the reviver theme and had to disable from a live site because it was not working. I have this exact same environment setup on a site that is not in production. I have reviewed the index.php file and so no such call for compatibility. Can you please review here and advise on this site where OPC is enabled: http://shop.xgamerpc.com

hello, the issue can also be seen on IE11 and is caused by IE changing the foreground color for placeholders to the exact same color of the background of the input in your case.

therefore i recommend to udpate the css (maybe only for all IE) to change the background to anything else (for example white) and the foreground color to something more contrasting like pure black.

the css file is located in:
/components/com_onepage/YOUR OPC THEME/onepage.css

we can help your with this over FTP and then you can just sync the theme with your live site.

hello, if you have an opc subscription purchased at our site or virtuemart.net site we can do this on your ftp which will better suite the css of the rest of your site.
