Hello, this error usually occurs when using Paypal New Api method. Please enable Paypal extension at the OPC Extension tab. In general we strongly recommend to use Paypal legacy method which is much more stable and does not have this issues.

If you are collecting credit cards online with paypal, we strongly recommend to get a commercial paypal extension for this. The one included in Virtuemart will not work for about 30 percent of your customer due to
- rounding issues
- tax counting issues within VM
- session timeout issues within paypal and virtuemart
- corrupted cookies problem
- fields synchronization with paypal and virtuemart
